MARCH 8 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

Assoc. Prof. Ebru AKKÖPRÜ, one of the faculty members of our department, gave a presentation as an guest speaker at the workshop organized by the International Geomorphology Association, representing our country on International Women's Day. We would like to thank our professor for representing us proudly and congratulate International Women's Day with our sincere wishes.

 

ALANYA TECHNICAL TRIP 01/12/2022

Asst. Prof. Çağlar ÇAKIR, Alanya Syedra Ancient City, Dim Stream, Dim Cave, Damlataş Cave and Alanya district center were visited in the technical trip organized within the scope of Field Study III course. Prof. Dr. İhsan BULUT from our department,  Asst. Prof. Halil HADİMLİ, Res. Assist. Gökhan GÖKDEMİR, Res. Assist. Samet ALKAN accompanied on the technical trip. Prof. Dr. İhsan BULUT and Asst. Prof. Halil HADİMLİ who contributed to our students with their valuable knowledge in the field. Prof. Dr. İhsan BULUT and Assist. Prof. Dr. Halil HADİMLİ and also to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ertuğ ERGÜNER, the head of the excavation of the ancient city of Syedra, who guided our group in the ancient city of Syedra and shared his valuable information with us.

 

NOVEMBER 24 TEACHERS' DAY CELEBRATION

Teacher's Day Organization was held on November 24th with the participation of faculty instructors and students of our department. We would like to thank all our students who contributed to the organization of this meaningful organization.

KAŞ AND FETHIYE TECHNICAL TRIP 22/10/2022

Within the scope of the technical trip organised by Mustafa ERTÜRK and Tahsin ŞAHİN, Kayaköy Old Greek houses, Tilos Ancient City, Saklikent Canyon and Patara Ancient City were visited. We would like to thank Mustafa ERTÜRK, Dean of the Faculty of Literature, Taner KORKUT, Chairman of the Tilos Ancient City Excavation, Tahsin ŞAHİN, Department of Geography, and Havva İŞKAN IŞIK, Chairman of the Patara Ancient City Excavation who made us travel to the depths of history with the event titled "Hittites in Lycia, Tuthaliya IV in Patara".

 

2022/2023 AUTUMN SEMESTER ACADEMIC OPENING CEREMONY

The Academic Opening Ceremony for the 2022/2023 Autumn Semester was held on 27/09/2022 with the participation of the faculty members of the department, the Secretary General of BAGEV / Foundation for the Development of the Western Mediterranean Economy and the students of the department, and the students who got degrees in the 2021/2022 Spring Semester were awarded certificates.

 

2021/2022 SPRING SEMESTER FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT CUP CEREMONY

Department of Geography 2021/2022 spring semester football tournament cup ceremony was held with the participation of department faculty lecturers and students.

 

CAREER PLANNING CONVERSATION

Akdeniz University Career Centre Manager Prof. Dr.  Burcu DEMİREL gave a career planning conversation to our students on 25.02.2022 at 10:00 at the Faculty of Literature Bumin Kağan Conference Hall.

İlhami KAPLAN, former football referee and a well-known face of the business world, gave a conversation about career planning to our department students at the Bumin Kağan Conference Hall of the Faculty of Literature on 19.04.2022 at 13:30.

 

Biogeography Course Field Work – November 2021

For the 3^rd year formal and evening class students of Akdeniz University Department of Geography, one-day fieldwork was carried out, under the responsibility of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Akköprü, on the Hisarçandır, Söğütcuması and Kemer line. The human and physical geographical characteristics of the field were examined while the “Vegetation Inventory” was performed.

Field Work I Course’s Field Work – November 2021

For the 2^nd year formal and evening class students of Akdeniz University Department of Geography, one-day fieldwork was carried out, under the responsibility of Asst. Dr. M. Tahsin Şahin, in Olimpos and Çıralı. While morphological characteristics of the field were examined, an interview form was applied to local people to collect data on how they perceive and interpret tourism. Faculty members of the Department of Geography participated in the study.

URBAN GEOGRAPHY COURSE FIELD STUDY NOVEMBER-2021

A field study was organised in Molla Yusuf Neighbourhood of Konyaaltı District under the responsibility of Tahsin ŞAHİN for the 2nd grade formal and secondary education students of Akdeniz University Department of Geography. The urban land use situation of the site was examined from a geographical point of view and the theoretical knowledge was reinforced with practice.

LOGO DESIGN COMPETITION

The students who participated in the Geography Department Logo design competition were presented with a certificate of participation and the student whose logo ranked first was presented with a certificate of appreciation and award at a ceremony organised with the participation of the faculty lecturers of the department.
